Hong Kong - Victoria Peak

Victoria Peak is the most well known mountain of Hong Kong and at the same time the highest elevation of the entire island. Its chinese name Tai Ping Shan means „Mountain of the big peace“. The watch tower Peak Tower (379 m) can be reached by Peak Tram, a swiss funicular, opened in 1888. After a comfortable 15 minute walk one arrives at Victoria Peak. The peak offers a fabulous view over large parts of the island of Hong Kong, the peninsula of Kowloon and Victoria Harbour.

Victoria Harbour is a natural port, situated between Hong Kong Island and the peninsula of Kowloon. It has greatly affected the history and culture of Hong Kong for the last 200 years. It also gave the important impulse that made Hong Kong one of the most important economic spots in the world.
