Description

A picturesque mountain world with a fascinating history. At the end of the 13th century, the Rheinwald, which had hardly been inhabited until then, was settled by the Walsers. Agriculture and forestry were their livelihoods. Soon the flourishing transit traffic via Splügen and San Bernardino brought further income to the valley. The former coexistence of agriculture and transit traffic has left its mark on the villages in the Rheinwald.
